Ballet/Pointe

Based on centuries old tradition of movement skills, ballet is a highly disciplined art, the foundation of all dance styles, and contains strict and specific technique.  Pointe is ballet movement performed on the toes in a hard boxed type shoe.

Tap

Descended from steps found in the jig, tap is a modern style of clogging that is done wearing a leather shoe with aluminum toe and heel tap.  Tap is making a syncopated rhythm with your feet, done with music or acapella.

Jazz

As a form of theater dance that is heavily influenced by African sources, jazz has an exciting, vibrant, and dynamic movement style and is carried out with sharply defined rhythms with the torso and pelvis. 

Lyrical/Modern/Contemporary

 Lyrical, Modern, & Contemporary styles are highly individualistic and diverse forms of artistic expression.  They allow the dancer to show their unique movement style while portraying emotion or telling a story.
